Bustling Season
Geez, time flies. The constant minutia of life, rushing up, flowing with the new season, provides all the distraction one needs. Mowing, running, cleaning, dog training, and of course, disc season!
2016 is going to be quite the year for Team Wild Woods. Cedar and I have come a long way with our disc game. She's catching discs better than ever. She's getting more comfortable playing close. She's reading my body language instead of focusing on the disc 100% of the time. I think Cedar needs more endurance, so I am trying to make myself run with her. It's tough going, I'm not a morning person and our evenings seldom offer much time to hit the trail. It seems to be one of those things that I just need to do and set a rhythm.
Birch hasn't gotten all the pieces to the puzzle that is disc. He's working on it and making great strides in the right direction. He's also at the age where he pushes the limits of being a naughty boy!
The Minnesota Disc Dog Club has some of the coolest events coming up this year. The board is great and has been able secure some really awesome venues and competitions. We've already participated in a demo and we have another one coming up this weekend. Demos are an extremely great place to get the club's name out to the public while having a great time playing disc without the pressure of competition.
Jess and I are planning some fun trips this year. I'm trying to plan another road trip (I'm still trying to find the time to complete the other road trip blog, yikes!). We want to get to the Pacific Northwest this year. We also want to get to the Boundary Waters.
When we aren't playing disc, we plan on being on the river or working in the yard. We have big plans for the backyard this year. Trying to find the time is the hardest part to that endeavor. Who know having a yard was this much work?
In between all that stuff, I'm still trying to read as much as possible. The bus is such a great place for that, except for one thing. It's probably the most uncomfortable place I've ever tried to read. Bumps, hard stops, and fast turns can really jar you out of the mystical land in which you've entered. I stated a trilogy recently that I can't wait to finish while at the same time, wish it didn't end.
