Women Rule

Today is International Women's day, conveniently in March, which is Women's History Month. I heard about this on the radio on the way to work this morning. It got me thinking about all of the influential women in my life.

It's been awhile since our last update and some of you may be wondering about the baby! "The due date was over a week ago, where is the baby?!" Well, the baby is here and she is magical! She arrived 9 days early, on 2/18 and her name is Gloa Yvonne.

When I found out that today is International Women's day I immediately thought of the the two most important women in my life, my wife and my daughter. Jessica is and has been the strongest figure in my life. Everyday I am reminded, by her words or her actions, just how much I admire her. She's my best friend, it's always an adventure and she has never faltered in supporting me and our family. Baby Gloa takes after her mother to a T. She's holding her head up high all the time and knows what she wants when she wants it, and gets it ;). She shares her name with influential and memorable women in our family.

I also got to thinking about all of the women in our lives that have supported us recently. My mother, my mother-in-law, my step-mom, Jess's Grandma, my sister, my sister-in-law, Jess's aunts, my aunts, & our female friends. The list is enormous.

I'm beyond grateful for these women and the immense value they bring to not only my life but now my daughter's life. I am at ease knowing that these women will be her role models. She will know what it means to be a strong woman and how important and valuable she is, understanding the impact that she will have on her family and the world.

Today, and every day, I'm thankful for these women and the women that raised them and influenced them so they, in turn, could raise and influence the beautiful and strong women I get to call my family.

So call your mom today, hug your grandma, kiss your wife, spend time with your daughter. Do something to honor the women that made you who you are today.
